Join us for the best ride ever!

July 28-August 2

Simply put, Bark Fooey is an awesomely fun and super-social ride from the Seattle area to Vancouver, BC. Since 2008, this ride has headed to the great white north for fun, fireworks and frivolity. This ride is moderately paced, mostly flat and very party friendly. The route always includes sight-seeing opportunities and long food stops.

Before Covid, Bark Fooey was a two day ride to Vancouver with an overnight stay in Bellingham, but since then, the route has changed to accommodate border situations and such. In 2022, we are back on course to head to Vancouver, but this year, we are going to try something different. We ride up in three days, rather than two. That's a 33% more fun! Also, we have plans to ride back to Seattle via Victoria and some ferry's. Bark Fooey is completely unsupported with the exception of one SAG wagon that will carry luggage to Bellingham, WA and to Vancouver, BC. All riders are responsible for getting themselves and their bikes back home. Additionally, all riders are responsible for their own meals.

We arrive in Vancouver on a Saturday, and have the entire evening and next day to do as we please in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

BONUS: We finish the ride on one of the nights when Vancouver holds its 'Celebration of Light' international fireworks competition. Some years,we view the fireworks high atop the balcony of a nearby hotel in order to avoid the crowds. This year, we are going to join the throngs of other viewers and watch the fireworks from English Bay. If you have never been to this event, I urge you to join us. The fireworks are out of this world. On Sunday, Vancouver holds their joyous Pride parade. The following day is Canada Day. When we arrive, Vancouver will be in full party mode.

If this ride sounds fun to you, please contact the ride leader, Matt, with your questions and intentions. Reserve your spot on the ride ASAP since the limit for the ride is 25 riders.

The best way to get hold of the ride leader or members of the group is to find us on Facebook. Search for Bark Fooey and ask to join. We won't say, No.

bark fooey! are you ready? me neither

Obligatory apologies for no updates for the past months. I've been distracted by high school students for the past few months. But now school is out and am in full Bark Fooey mode. Lets get started with the formalities.

This is the 11th or 12th Bark Fooey, but this will be the first BF I have ridden in two years. Due to a major accident and a family tragedy, I have had to sit out the last two rides. So this year, I am super excited for this ride.

  • SAG this year will be handled by the lovely and talented Brenda Fritts Quayle. As always, we have limited space so pack lightly.
  • Funds for SAG
    • Depending on how many riders we have, I will start a PayPal thing-a-ma-jiggy and ask for donations. Your donation is also your registration. Pay and you are in. Im thinking at most, it will be $30. Funds go toward gas and anything else our SAG may need.
  • Maps and routes. If you go to BarkFooey.blogspot.com, you will find the link to the goodies including GPS goodies.
  • Hotels.
    • Everyone needs to find their own hotel. I have suggestions if you need them. In Bellingham, the Coachman is the designated end of day one and start of day two.
    • Being the procrastinator that I am, I have not secured a room in Vancouver yet. I'll take care of that soon. wish me luck.
  • Fireworks.
    • This year, we are trying something different. Rather than having a view room, we are going to walk down to English bay and be part of the throngs of people watching them from they bay. could be fun. Could be horrible. We shall see.
  • Proposed new starting point.
    • Bark Fooey virgin, Ben Truelove has suggested a new start that includes an awesome trail route. I rode it recently and I really like it. the new route avoids that killer hill at the start in woodinville
    • I want to know if this is more or less convenient for you. I want to do what is best for the majority. So please go here and take this short survey.
